PlantMaster
Quick Tip: Many problems with databases occur because of indexing issues. Indexing is the principle of keeping things in proper order. If you have lists of plants that are out of order or if you cannot find something that you know is in the database you may have an indexing issue. Go to the Setup Menu on the Main Menu and select the Index Files option. This will rebuild the index files that keep things in their proper order. You can run this as often as you wish. It like putting oil in your car, it can't hurt.

Viewing Pictures: If you cannot view pictures in PlantMaster you may need to insert the CD in the CD ROM drive. When you install the software the images on the CD do not install onto the hard drive. The software will access them off the CD. Sometimes the CD can become dusty, dirty or scratched. Try cleaning it off by whipping if off on your clothing. Sometimes it is as simple as that. Pulling up the Garden Idea images is a good quick way to check to see if the CD connection is in place.

Printing Issues: Many people call to ask how to print pictures. If you are having troubles printing please make sure all your printer and cable connections are in place. To check this print something from another program to ascertain whether or not you have a software or a hardware issue. Make sure you have the CD in drive. Make sure you are selecting a plant that has a picture associated with it. Go to the Project Manager and select a project that has plants in it. Open the Reports Menu and select the Month of Bloom report and see if you can print this successfully. Make a new project and put four plants in it that have pictures associated with it. Choose the Plant Briefs report and you should get a report with four-color pictures associated with it. You can also use the Search by Name, Full Selection or Quick Selection tools to pull up list of plants. When you get the search results window, highlight a plant and select Print Plant from the buttons at the bottom. A sub menu appears. The Plant Profile is the report that includes a picture. This is another way to quickly print out a picture.

Plant Legend Problems: If you are printing out a plant legend and the categories keep repeating themselves (Trees, Shrubs, Trees, Shrubs, Vines, Groundcovers) then you can try a couple of thing to remedy this problem. The first thing to try is reindexing the database. (See Quick Tip at the top of this page.) There were some versions of PlantMaster where a bug in the software made this occur on legends 7-9. Download the newest PlantMaster file from the website to fix this. The problem has been corrected with the version that resides on the website.
